We partnered with a leading oil and gas supermajor undergoing a comprehensive reorganization. The client recognized the need for further cost reductions, which they hoped to achieve through the implementation of AI solutions. Additionally, the client expressed concerns about lagging in the utilization of AI compared to industry standards, highlighting a critical area for improvement.
Identify practical and innovative applications of AI that could be implemented to address specific pain points. Find use cases that were not only feasible, but also had the potential to be executed efficiently within existing processes to drive cost savings.
Other firms attempted similar initiatives, but failed to realize value. This history of unfulfilled promises added pressure to our efforts, making it crucial to demonstrate the real-world applicability and benefits of our proposed AI solutions to gain buy-in.
We initiated the project by conducting a comprehensive analysis of the organization's existing challenges and assessing potential AI solutions. Subsequently, we organized two-day workshops that convened leaders and technical innovators from key business units to brainstorm and refine these potential solutions. The leading solutions were identified and agreed upon. Shortly thereafter, high-level designs, business cases and narratives were created to validate the business value of solutions and maintain momentum for later approvals.
BUSINESS OUTCOMES - Projected Savings of $35M/Year
We brought together ~65 cross-functional client resources, who had previously only worked in silos, to spend two days learning the basics of AI, brainstorming additional AI use cases, and providing their diverse perspectives towards solutioning four preselected AI use cases.
The workshops yielded 200+ potential new AI use cases, as well as high-level designs, business cases, and narratives for the four preselected business problems. The cross-functional solution teams were able to generate high value solutions to the four business problems and expect to save $35M/year. In addition, the supporting deliverables developed in the workshops made it easy to quickly secure funding, resources, and approvals to generate measurable value to the bottom line.
