This session will explore implications of the position of sustainability in a corporate organizational structure, looking at the pros and cons of placing the sustainability function in different parts of an organization. Expert panelists with decades of direct experience and research on this topic will share observations and lessons learn over their careers. Attendees will walk away with a wealth of insights related to the advantages and disadvantages of placing sustainability under Operations, Product Innovation, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, and other typical verticals – or various combinations thereof – in an organizational chart. The discussion will also analyze how the placement of the sustainability function tends to evolve or change at different levels of maturity, and how that reflects inside and outside the organization.
