One of the industries that we support is going through a major economic downturn which will result in massive downsizing. Leaders and others can benefit from understanding how emotional intelligence can support their work during these difficult times.
Empathy, one of the four components of emotional intelligence, can be both positive and negative. Employees who are being laid off may find empathy from those conducting workforce reduction comforting on the one hand, but those doing the reductions may be exhausted by the process.
